Is there such a thing as too rich...

So we were having this conversation the other day about money. My sister-in-law is finally decided to get into politics and the bleeding heart that she is, has decided to be a Democrat. So I'm trying to help her understand why the Democrats are only better at talking about helping poor people, but when it comes down to it, they do the same thing or in many cases less to actually take care of the poor. I made the excellent point that we all should be taking care of poor people and not putting it on the government to take care of them.

I think she got my point, but at the same time, we kind of landed on this question, "Is there such a thing as too rich?" I am very much a person who says that everyone can do whatever they want and that if making money floats your boat, go out and do it. But that's doesn't answer the question really.

The question basically comes down to how much is enough before you just give the rest of it away or do something to try and help people. So a few months back we went to Hershey Pennsylvania and we learned that Mr. Hershey sold his caramel company and made 1 million dollars back around the turn of the century. He then took the entire million and created what we know him to be famous for, the chocolate part. That seems okay too right because he used it to create loads of jobs for people and basically created an economy for this rural part of Pennsylvania. 

I think that the answer is yes, there is such a thing as too much. That said, I don't think I could ever be the one that said, "You have too much."

And the best line is....

I can't believe I almost forgot this line and it was easily the best. Michael sidles up to Oscar's desk, sits on the corner as he says, "Hello Oscar Mayer Weiner Lover." Holy crap, I watched that about twenty times using the handy rewind feature on my DVR. Awesome what they get away with on the office.

2nd best line, when Dwight says, "As God is my witness, she shall bear your fruit!" I will never make the mistake of saying that anyone but Creed is my favorite character on the Office, but Dwight just knocks it out of the park every once in a while. Tomorrow is a new episode, and I'm stoked.

Last thing for tonight... At dinner, I totally called Carly leaving American Idol. Jessie and I started an informal bet tonight about who gets kicked off American Idol going forward. I am obviously now up by one point, as she picked Sayesha to go home and I picked Carly. I think that I have her beat because she tends to get emotional in her picks. She also is doing a heckuva job convincing me that Shannon Elizabeth and Derek on Dancing with the Stars are falling in love. I hate to say it, but she might be right. Peace.

Don't bother reading this... I watched The Office tonight

Honestly, this is probably more for me to decompress at those times when I can't get work done, so most of it will be total crap, but you might like it... who knows. Here we go.

So I watched The Office tonight and it was awesome. I love that Michael and Jan are broken up now especially since there is almost no chance that it's permanent. It's great to see Michael try and get out there again and realize what kind of chicks he can pull now that he's getting older. 

A quick nod to the Pam and Jim story line, it's cute and nice and I like that they are together. I hope they don't try to create drama by breaking them up or anything like that. It's not why I watch the show, but they are spending just the right amount of time on it to keep the chicks happy.

Funniest moment by far is Michael and Dwight dancing on people's graves singing American Pie right at the end. That they actually got to some kind of ending was just awesome. Serious belly laugh.

I also watched Earl tonight. Weak! The thing with the weed had some real potential, but the story kind of sucked. Earl's mom second hand smoking the weed and then cutting off all her hair was the funniest part and it wasn't that funny. 

30 Rock rounded out my television watching for Thursday night. Tracy Morgan is hilarious and was solid. Especially after doing the whole "Black is the new president..." thing on SNL, it was solid to have him pretend to be a Republican in the episode tonight. I thought it was really good natured of him and it reminds me why I love that show. Tina Fey was freaking hilarious also tonight. Very good night for 30 Rock all in all. 

This is the best TV watching night of the week and it mostly lived up to the hype. I'll have to rewatch the Office a few times and then post some of the better lines of the night. Creed had that great one about the chairs, but i'll get it right before I post.
